It’s been a fun and adventurous year of cooking and eating!  I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone (in terms of cooking, I don’t really have any food hangups per se, will try just about anything, except for dill pickles, hate them), experimented in the kitchen, and most importantly had fun along the way, sharing my creations with family and friends (at least the more adventurous ones).

Thought I’d do a photo collage to sum up my year in food:

From pan bagnat, hanger steak, chicken hearts, decadent chocolate treats, and of course, an array of locally grown fruits and veggies…

To fregola sarda (a type of Sardinian pasta), smoked bluefish chowder, mushroom hot pot, learning how to shuck an oyster (still working on that one)…

To homemade kimchi, more mushrooms, duck tacos (didn’t quite make it onto the blog in 2012, but I have a whole [Rouen] duck in the freezer, just waiting to be roasted)…

To oyster bisque, an array of seafood, baked eggplant, squid ink, my first roast chicken (what took me so long?)…

To homemade multigrain sourdough bread, my new found friend — salsify — and lastly, a much needed vacation to Greece to unwind (and take a break from cooking); to indulge in sea urchin, grilled octopus (my true love), and lots of fresh seafood/fish (including many oily, little sardines)…

And more ideas brewing as we speak…time to get back in the kitchen.

Hope your 2013 is filled with many culinary adventures!
